Thorns among the Barbs

Thoughts on my journey to heaven

Finally we may have found our new church home.

We have been visitng various churches throughout the area, and I feel like it is the story of the 3 bears – some are too large, some are too small.  While we have enjoyed our time at the various churches we visited, there has been an odd sense of restraint about getting involved until last week.  Small congregation of about 150, and a meeting location close to home.  We knew it almost immediately when the warm faces smiled to welcome us and extended a hand out to shake ours.  then the music started for worship – and there was a profound sense of God’s presence in the worship.  And then the pastor opened the bible to work through a passage of James chapter 3 – and it was clear, powerful, and the word was exhaulted.  I was quite amazed by the simplicity of his presentation, and the honest humility of his candid speech.  It was also practical preaching that gave me something to ruminate on for the week.  And so we eagerly went today to worship with the same result.  We were blessed beyond measure, and the pastor remembered me.  This was encouraging.  And during the service there was an opportunity to respond to God’s word, and come to pray.  And God was doing buisness there – many came forward to kneel and publicly pray.  I have not sensed God moving that powerfully in a long time.  It was good to see this.  And it was so healthy for people to lay aside anything hindering their response to God.  And the service ended with celebration.  Celebration that our hearts are united with the heart of God, aligned with heaven.  Amen.
